Relating to Anthroposophy
Subscribe to the Waldorfy Podcast Apple PodcastsGoogle PodcastsSpotify This episode is totally unique to anything I've done before. In the episode I'm being interviewed by the lovely Laura Scappaticci of the Anthroposopher podcast. Laura was my guest in last week's episode and right after I interviewed her, she interviewed me for her show. In that conversation we spent more time on what I find intriguing about anthroposophy. I speak about my connection and appreciation of Waldorf education and biodynamic farming. We also discussed statements that Steiner made about race. I have an interest in some ideas in the sphere of anthroposophy but I have never been able to get over…

All About Anthroposophy with Laura Scappaticci of the Anthroposopher Podcast
As I mention at the start of this episode, I think it's helpful to hear stories of personal discovery and exploration with anthroposophy. At least for me, a lot of ideas surrounding anthroposophy are kind of out there and I find it interesting to speak with individuals who are really diving deep into understanding Steiner's ideas and all the different areas that anthroposophy extends to. Subscribe to the Waldorfy PodcastApple PodcastsGoogle PodcastsSpotify My guest in this episode is Laura Scappaticci. She is the Director of Programs for the Anthroposophical Society in America. Before joining the ASA in 2016, Laura had over sixteen years of experience in education creating and managing…

The Camphill Movement
I have had many messages over the course of the last year asking the question, “How does Waldorf or anthroposophy meet individuals with cognitive and or physical disabilities?” There are a few ways one could answer this question and from what I’m learning there is more than one perspective. Within the Waldorf school, the extra lesson would be something of interest for anyone asking this question. There’s also curative education, which I’m just learning about. Curative education meets the needs of children with intellectual and physical disabilities. I hope to be able to cover both the extra lesson, and curative education in individual episodes sometime soon, but the focus of…

Waldorf Walls: Color and the Lazure Technique
Check Out Our Incredible Waldorfy Supporter! Palumba believes that imaginative, open-ended play with simple toys, crafted from beautiful, natural material offers children warmth and a sense of well-being when discovering their world. Growing up attending a Waldorf school, one of the things I would look forward to most at the end of the year was the excitement of getting to move into a new classroom the following year. The next grade always felt so much more cool, and moving to a new classroom meant moving into a room of a new color! If you've attended a Waldorf school, or have had a child attend one, you may…

Anthroposophy, Architecture, and Design
Check Out Our Incredible Waldorfy Supporter! Palumba believes that imaginative, open-ended play with simple toys, crafted from beautiful, natural material offers children warmth and a sense of well-being when discovering their world. This lovely photo is of the Waldorf school I attended, the Pine Hill Campus at High Mowing School in Wilton New Hampshire. When I was young I often wondered why our school was in such a unique building. As children my friends and I would joke about how it had "no right angles", which isn't actually true. However the unique angles in the building have certainly sparked me to wonder, "why?". I loved hosting the…

An Introduction to Eurythmy
This was a very special interview for me to conduct. I made up my mind quite a while ago that I wanted to feature an episode on eurythmy. It was an extra special treat to get to have my mother-in-law Carol Renwick as my guest. Carol met Anthroposophy and eurythmy in her twenties when she was a graduate student in philosophy at the University of Toronto. Eurythmy spoke to her soul and held out a promise of supporting her to become a whole, integrated person, not just a walking head and dancer with little connection between the two. She decided to commit to the 4 year training and then also…

Biodynamic Farming
Check Out Our Incredible Waldorfy Supporter! Palumba believes that imaginative, open-ended play with simple toys, crafted from beautiful, natural material offers children warmth and a sense of well-being when discovering their world. The area of Rudolf Steiner's study of anthroposophy that interests me most, second to Waldorf education of course is biodynamic farming. I happen to be a member at a biodynamic farm and I have to tell you that the beyond delicious goodies we get from our farm fill both my family's bellies and souls with their goodness. So what is biodynamic farming? What makes it unique? This is exactly what I break down in this…

A Road Map For Anthroposophy
I decided to title this episode “A Road Map for Anthroposophy”, because I felt that really best described what this episode is. If you're a big Waldorfy fan and have listened in all the way back to the beginning of season one, you'll remember that in episode 103 I did a more brief sweeping introduction to anthroposophy. If you want to go back and check that episode out click here. In this episode we’re breaking down what anthroposophy is in simple terms and then laying out all the things that fall under the umbrella of anthroposophy. I know I referenced that umbrella term a lot in the trailer for…

Anthroposophy ~TRAILER FOR SEASON 3~
This trailer was so fun to create and so different than any episode I've done before. I am most excited to announce the theme for season 3 which is.... Anthroposophy! It's a huge topic, but something I've really wanted to do a deep dive in for a while. To give you a quick explanation of the relationship between anthroposophy and Waldorf education, I make a comparison of anthroposophy being like a tree. Waldorf education is like a branch of that tree. Then there are other things that the founder of Waldorf education Rudolf Steiner had developed views on as well. Things like biodynamic farming, social finance, medicine, and these are…
