Waldorf And Navigating What Friends, Family, and Community May Think

Subscribe to the Waldorfy PodcastApple PodcastsGoogle PodcastsSpotify A super special treat, in this episode I get to host my own Waldorfy mama, Jeni Ogilvy! Our conversation is focused on navigating what friend's family and community might think of the Waldorf approach, while toward the end of the episode we also get to explore dealing with feeling, "not Waldorf enough". I so dislike that term, but I think those feelings can be so real and I'm glad we were able to take some time to address those feelings head on in this episode. Eighth Grade and the Eighth Grader

I had an amazing time interviewing Simone for this episode. She was really the perfect guest for this final episode of the fifth season. In many of the episodes of season five we've been touching on expanding on Waldorf, but Simone really goes into depth on this. She speaks not just about grade eight, but how she's expanded on the "traditional" Waldorf curriculum in other grades as well. I loved all the episodes of this fifth season, but I have to say my conversation with Simone for this episode is my favorite. Content warning, we do speak briefly about sexual education in this episode, it may not be suitable for…

Genevieve Dagobert ~ On Race, Waldorf Education, Anthroposophy, and Steiner

Subscribe to the Waldorfy PodcastApple PodcastsGoogle PodcastsSpotify I say it in the episode, but I really can not express enough gratitude for my lovely guest Genevieve Dagobert. Genevieve is right here in New Hampshire, where I currently am, but we've only just connected this year. She is so brilliant, passionate, and courageous, I really just can't say enough about her. Geneviève is a life-long educator with over thirty years of teaching experience, both in Haiti and the US, ranging from early childhood through elementary grades, to educating adults in a college setting. In 1983, Genevieve opened an Early Childhood center in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She migrated to the US in 1992…

Inclusion and Belonging: The Trailer for Season Four

Subscribe to the Waldorfy podcastApple PodcastsGoogle PodcastsSpotify I am so excited to be sharing this trailer with you and to begin this season of episodes. About seven months ago, I began planning an episode about inclusion and belonging in Waldorf education. I have been asked many times since the Waldorfy podcast launched to cover the topic of Waldorf, inclusion, and equity. I also had this feeling right from the start that it was something I wanted to dive deeper into. As you may have heard me mention many times through Waldorfy podcast episodes, I had a very positive experience attending a Waldorf school as a child. I had great teachers,…

    Relating to Anthroposophy

Subscribe to the Waldorfy Podcast Apple PodcastsGoogle PodcastsSpotify This episode is totally unique to anything I've done before. In the episode I'm being interviewed by the lovely Laura Scappaticci of the Anthroposopher podcast. Laura was my guest in last week's episode and right after I interviewed her, she interviewed me for her show. In that conversation we spent more time on what I find intriguing about anthroposophy. I speak about my connection and appreciation of Waldorf education and biodynamic farming. We also discussed  statements that Steiner made about race. I have an interest in some ideas in the sphere of anthroposophy but I have never been able to get over…

All About Anthroposophy with Laura Scappaticci of the Anthroposopher Podcast

As I mention at the start of this episode, I think it's helpful to hear stories of personal discovery and exploration with anthroposophy. At least for me, a lot of ideas surrounding anthroposophy are kind of out there and I find it interesting to speak with individuals who are really diving deep into understanding Steiner's ideas and all the different areas that anthroposophy extends to. Subscribe to the Waldorfy PodcastApple PodcastsGoogle PodcastsSpotify My guest in this episode is Laura Scappaticci. She is the Director of Programs for the Anthroposophical Society in America. Before joining the ASA in 2016, Laura had over sixteen years of experience in education creating and managing…

    The Camphill Movement

I have had many messages over the course of the last year asking the question, “How does Waldorf or anthroposophy meet individuals with cognitive and or physical disabilities?” There are a few ways one could answer this question and from what I’m learning there is more than one perspective. Within the Waldorf school, the extra lesson would be something of interest for anyone asking this question. There’s also curative education, which I’m just learning about. Curative education meets the needs of children with intellectual and physical disabilities. I hope to be able to cover both the extra lesson, and curative education in individual episodes sometime soon, but the focus of…
